Hylenex (hyaluronidase injection) Aftercare & Advice
Today you have undergone a treatment in which a protein found naturally in the body called hylauronidase has been injected into the tissue to naturally disperse hyaluronic acid. Following post- treatment guidelines is crucial to the health of your skin and success of your results.
What’s Normal after a Procedure?
Injections can cause swelling, pain, redness, tenderness and bruising. These are commonly reported reactions after treatment. This will normally resolve within 7-10 days. Over the course of 7 days you will start to notice your filler dissolving. (This is what we want to happen)
How to Protect Your Results & Reduce Side Effects
For 48 hours you should avoid exposure to UV light and heat i.e. sauna, steam, tanning beds, hot showers, strenuous exercise etc, as this may increase discomfort and swelling
Keep the area cool with a cold compress, but don't apply ice directly as it can cause injury
Try to avoid unnecessary pressure over any areas treated, especially in the first 24 hours
Avoid facial massaging or skin resurfacing until the area has healed FULLY
Avoid taking Aspirin, Ibuprofen/Advil, Fish Oil or high doses of vitamin E supplements
Avoid Alcohol/Caffeinated beverages for the next 24 to 48 hours.
Reduce the Chance of Infection
Do not touch the treated area or apply makeup or any other products for the rest of the day following treatment so bacteria from your hands or other products aren’t introduced into any needle entry sites.
