Neuromodulators/ Neurotoxins Aftercare & Advice
Today you have undergone a treatment in which a tiny amount of a muscle relaxing protein (botox) has been injected into muscles to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Following post- treatment guidelines is crucial to the health of your skin and success of your results.
What’s Normal after a Procedure?
Injections can cause small amounts of swelling, a temporary bump, redness, bruising, a mild to moderate headache, and sensations such as tingling or mild itching after the treatment. These effects are common and can be considered a normal part of the process.
When Will I See Results?
The initial effects will show in the first 2-5 days.
Peak effect is seen at 14 days, however the result will continue to improve for 4 weeks or more.
The benefits start to taper off after 6-8 weeks this does not mean you need to be retreated
Muscle movement will return to baseline after 3-4 months and that means it’s time to repeat the treatment!
How to Protect Your Results & Reduce Side Effects
Remain upright for 4 hours
When cleansing, avoid pressure and use gentle strokes away from the eyes
Avoid facial massages or electrical stimulation of the face for the next 2 weeks
Avoid wearing tight caps or garments in the area that has been injected
Avoid alcohol, exposure to UV, and extreme heat i.e. sauna, steam room, tanning beds, very hot showers and strenuous exercise etc for the remainder of the day/evening.
